This is a home for my various original fiction projects - some ongoing, some completed, some just for funsies. They’ve been posted to various websites before, slowly moving as sites were shut down or TOS changes prompted action or the vibes generally became rancid, but hopefully they can stay here for a while.
Below is a brief tag explainer, to help navigate the site, and then stories summaries with links to each individual installation posted - naturally that means I’ll have to update this page with some regularity, so here’s hoping I actually do that. But there should be enough here to be getting started with.
As mentioned, some of these stories were written quite a long time ago, and for quite different audiences, and while I sometimes rewrite them to be more palatable to whatever my writing style is now, sometimes I don’t. So you may find various errors, style variations, and other kind of weird things, but hopefully it doesn’t interfere with your enjoyment.
Hopefully the story name tags are self explanatory, but these are tags like: The Tenor Group, Kostas, The Ballad of Baby Ortega, Harry and Ellis, etc.
Completed: This story is fully written, though chapters may be being added to the site on a regular basis.
Ongoing: This story is still in the process of being written. Usually, this will be the story I’m trying to update on a regular basis
Serial Fiction: This story is being posted as-it-comes, without necessarily following a chronological order, though there may be chronological arcs to follow.
Behind the Stories: Other stuff, generally, sometimes sharing thoughts, sometimes explaining schedules, sometimes providing some context and research for the stories, and even sometimes just thoughts about writing in general.

Kostas
Description: A completed (more than) novel-length story centered on M/M Romance, with the following themes: military, religion, family, war, diplomacy, trauma, recovery, betrayal, and reunification.
Summary: Can Esras Cole unravel the mystery of his former classmate and lover’s betrayal - a betrayal which put them on opposite sides of a civil war - in time to save Dominicus Galen’s life? Perhaps more importantly: should he? And if he does, what will it cost?

Academy Days
Description: An ongoing story analogous to a school drama, with day-in-the-life style chapters, coming-of-age themes, and broadly centered on M/M romance backed by a rivals-to-lovers arc. Also contains themes of military school, religion, family, cultural clashes, interpersonal conflicts and self-discovery.
Summary: The story of Nika and Cole, protagonists of Kostas, during their late teens at the Academy of Ainjir, their fours years learning the art of war and the grueling process of falling in love in the middle of a meat grinder of rivalry, politics, violence, and poorly supervised young men.

Academy Days Side Stories: Stories not really in the chronological timeline
The Tenor Group
Description: (Humour/Drama) The adventures of a group of teenagers with special abilities in a near-contemporary world in which the manifestation (and eventual destruction) of ‘the Island’ seems to have caused worldwide genetic disruption. Themes related to superheros, vigilantes, social justice, disability, conspiracy, mental health (and eventually mysticism), teamwork/found family/found-people-you-have-to-get-along-with, and coming of age.
Summary: Islander abilities are rarely unmixed blessings, and vigilante teams have been illegal for decades, but that doesn’t matter much when you’re a billionaire with an inexplicable soft spot for Islander causes and a teenage girl who can set things on fire with her mind. Nobody is quite sure what anybody else is doing - the team is hiding it from their billionaire sponsor, Seth the firestarter is finding her crusade increasingly conflicting with living lives she never imagined possible, Decon the deconstructor isn’t even totally sure why he was invited along, Bosh the sociopathic (not really, that’s not a real thing) empath didn’t even want to be here, Julie the genius is just here for the research funding, Wes the deeply traumatized ninja is happy he’s not in jail, and for some reason they were obliged to have Firmament along. Firmament - who hasn’t aged in decades since he squashed his old team to death in a mysterious accident - is pretty much comatose. Pretty much.
So, yeah, nobody knows what anybody is doing, but by damn, they’re going to do it.

The Ballad of Baby Ortega
Description: (Experimental/Neo-Noir/Horror) Stories more about mood and setting than straight narration - there is a story, naturally, but each piece tries to stand alone
Summary: Baby is a sex worker and a werewolf hunter on neon city streets where her social invisibility and the fantasy of beasts that stalk the night mingles to make nothing quite certain. She loves Gloria. That’s certain. But Gloria might not be certain Baby’s world - except the murdering - is real.
Remi and Harry
Description: (Historical Fiction/ Romance/ Comedy/ Horror) An M/M romance taking place in the early (precise date yet to be determined) nineteenth century, between a… slightly dense vampire hunter and the vampire who seems to have fallen in love with him. There are chronological arcs, but some of the stories were written quite some time ago, and might be a little inconsistent.
Summary: Remi has come to Europe from the backwoods of early nineteenth century Louisiana to join the Brotherhood of Slayers, a (somewhat disreputable) group of hunters of the unusual and undead who most often die or go mad (or have started out mad) in the course of their holy business, and thus try to wash indelible sins from his soul. Harry, at more than a century old now, might have actually started to feel vampiric life a little boring - but then he runs across Remi and decides to tag along a while. Neither is really quite ready to admit that they’re falling in love - Remi because it would eternally damn him, and Harry because it would be gauche - but the risky life of a vampire slayer may force them to it before they’re ready.
The Ballad of Harry and Ellis
Description: (Historical Fiction/ Crime/ Melodrama/ Romance) An M/M Romance taking place in the early eighteenth century between two young but enthusiastic members of the criminal underworld of London. A dramatic tale of love, struggle, violence, conflicting goals, tragedy, and death. Contains a fair bit of cant and dialect. This is Harry the vampire of Remi and Harry as a still-living young man. PS: This story makes a pretty dramatic tone shift pretty dang fast from the light humour of Remi and Harry to much more gritty and dramatic material.
Summary: Harry barely escapes his orphanage apprenticeship alive, determined to use whatever means he must to better his situation - but he has never truly lived in the city, on the streets, and lives in fear his unusual inclinations means he’s destined to die in disease and squalor. Meeting Ellis by chance, he is terrified - Ellis, daring, canting, already leader of his own tight, small, gang and well connected to underworld life in and outside of the city, chose to live the dangerous life of thief and highwayman after his exile from his family in Ireland. But Harry’s refusal to give in to his fear makes Ellis take to him; Harry’s refusal to be taken under their protection until Ellis practically begs him makes the pull even stronger. But they both know that this can’t last - not least because the way of the road is a short life and a merry one, but also because they want different things. Whether the hangman or their own goals will separate them first is anyone’s guess, but in the meantime, they and their love will take fierce vengeance on the world that denies them.
